Great post - I can completely relate. My daughter's due date is 2 days to the year after the passing of my father. As we prepare her nursery the focal point is a photo of my father and another of my mother-in-law who passed away 6 months later - however, knowing that a child was on the way, she had a councillor at the hospital transcribe a letter for her unborn grand-child.

Congratulations on your newborn.

I am a stranger to you. We have never met, but I appreciate you sharing one of the most profound, raw and complicated musings I have ever had the privilege to read...

Wow! Just came across your website today via another Apple Mac site and saw this story of your dad and your son. Sorry about your dad and congrats on your beautiful little boy.

How cruel and wonderful life can be at the same time huh, but I guess that is what makes us the people that we are. I know men usually don't want to admit how smitten they are with their kids, but I think it was very cool of you to talk about your love for Jackson so openly. And believe you me ... that love for one's own child only gets stronger and you only get more smitten as they grow older and evolve into their own little people with their own personalities.

So be prepared to brag for many more years to come ... its just a wonderful privilege to have kids ... period ! .. and we must all realize that before they are all grown up.

Enjoy the little boy - these early years fly by and are so very, very precious :-)
