I’m honored to be included in the lineup for an amazing new art show.
Spoke Art, (based in San Francisco) asked several amazing artists to create art in homage to the legendary director/writer/producer/actor Martin Scorsese for Scorsese: An Art Show Tribute. The show will be at Bold Hype Gallery in New York City, opening this Friday, April 19th. In Spoke Art’s own words:
Spoke Art gallery is proud to present “Scorsese” an art show tribute to the films and life of acclaimed director, writer and producer, Martin Scorsese.
Widely regarded as one of America’s most talented filmmakers, Scorsese boasts a 40+ year career in cinema and his love affair with the city of New York has manifested itself in such a way that the director is considered an unofficial biographer of the Big Apple. With this in mind, Spoke Art gallery in San Francisco has opted to bring our “Scorsese” tribute art show to NYC for a weekend-only showing of new and original paintings, sculptures and prints.
“Scorsese” debuts Friday, April 19th with an opening night party from 6pm to 10pm at Bold Hype Gallery in Chelsea. Admittance is free, complimentary refreshments will be served, and the artists will be in attendance. The show will remain on view until Sunday, April 21st.
It was hard narrowing down my choice for which Scorsese movie to choose, and even when I did, I ended up starting over a few times to get the work exactly how I wanted. I ended up choosing Jodi Foster in her role as Iris in Taxi Driver for my tribute. “Easy to Remember,” is acrylic on paper, mounted to wood panel and resined.
I wish I could make it to see this amazing show in person, but I’ll be stuck on the West coast. The show promises to be extremely packed, so if you’re planning on attending, be sure to get there early! Enjoy!
