A new painting from a small grouping of darker themed ones.
This one is called “Biomecthulhu” and was pretty fun to do. As I said, I’ve been in a slightly darker vein lately, so this one and the next few will all be a little more in a darker pallet and darker vibe. I’ve been getting several questions about materials lately, and I’d like to state for the record: I work on 300 lb. hot press Arches watercolor paper almost exclusively for my painted works. If you see a black and white illustration, chances are it’s on bristol, and very, very rarely will I work on a cradled wood panel directly. For mounted pieces, I do create a cradled panel that the watercolor paper is fixed to once finished, but for most smaller works, I simply varnish the paper and leave it be.
Colored inks and acrylics on watercolor paper, varnished. 7.5″ x 11″ (2013)
