New painting, in a Breaking Bad theme.
We were not on the Breaking Bad bandwagon when the series originally aired. Having missed the beginning, and watching the cult following, my wife and I decided to wait until the series was over and then shotgun it in a short timeframe. This holiday season was that timeframe, and we were hooked. Despite being incredibly good, it also had a very strong sense of heaviness and there were definite times when we had to take an emotional break. All in all though, it was an amazingly satisfying series.
One of the characters we enjoyed the most was Mike Ehrmantraut, and specifically me with his extremely paintable head. This new painting is a result from that. This is also another of the recent batch of custom framed paintings I’ve been making. I finish the painting and resin it, after mounting the paper to wood panel. Then I take a regular old frame and go crazy building up texture with MagicSculpt epoxy clay. I even collaged some of the background (hard to see on this one) to finish the effect. Hope you dig it. This one is sold (as are a few more in the pipeline) but look for more in the future. Enjoy “Ehrmantraut’s Lament.”
