Hard to believe Gallery 1988 has been going strong for ten years!
To celebrate, G1988 has invited several artists to create art for some of their favorite pop cultural themes, but in a subtle way. This Friday, “The Subtle Art of Pop Culture” opens at the Gallery 1988 west location, and the art I’ve seen so far looks incredible. This show will showcase art that has a more subtle nod to various pop culture films, with a heavier emphasis on the art rather than any overt pop culture theme.
I was excited to take on Fight Club again for my painting, with a subtle nod to the main character Jack’s power animal. Mild spoiler alert- it’s a penguin. I also wanted to make a custom frame that went above and beyond my recent hand sculpted frames, and I’m super pleased with how this one turned out.
The show opens at 7PM, and is accessible via RSVP only, as the crowds are expected to be massive. Enjoy!
