New Works! Some of the Last of 2014!

by ncwinters on December 29, 2014

Wrapping up a few more works from 2014.

Here’s a couple that have been on the burner. “Broken Jetsam Redux” is the result of a recent delve into reworking old print remnants that accumulate around the studio. Prints are an interesting paradox, as they serve as a lingering reminder of old work. Print fragments, damaged prints or other print experiments loiter around often past the initial inspiration, and can force new perspective on a finished idea. They’re also a rewarding way to revisit older themes with new technical and emotional directions. In any case, here is one case of that. I’m sure it won’t be the last, they are  intriguing studies to make.

The second piece, “Vincent” is one of many new directions I’m tackling for the new year. Look for similar works on the horizon as I further experiment with color, form and the ubiquitous visage of the human face. Enjoy!
