It’s that time of year…
Crazy 4 Cult is back, for the ninth time! For those unaware, C4C is an annual pop culture-themed art show at Gallery 1988, where several artists are asked to create a unique piece of art in honor of their favorite pop culture films. From Gallery 1988:
There are over 200 artists (!!!!) in this year’s exhibit, and it truly is shaping up to be one of the best. Paintings, prints, sculptures and plush, all inspired by your favorite movies. See where it all started this weekend!! The artwork will first be available at the opening reception, then online for purchase starting Saturday afternoon at gallery1988.com. This show will run through Dec. 5th.
For my painting this time around, I took on the amazing 1988 anime Akira, based on the manga by Katsuhiro Otomo. I’ve been meaning to capture Tetsuo’s climactic metamorphosis for some time, and this seemed the perfect opportunity. It was an extremely short timeline, and the restraint made me push that much harder. I’m very pleased with the result. Enjoy “Tetsuo Becoming.”
