Rayguns and Robots!

by ncwinters on June 15, 2012

This Saturday at Ltd. Gallery in Seatlle, I’ll have a new piece on display with about 40 other artists as we each create our own interpretation of the show theme: Rayguns & Robots! There’s already been some nice press about the show, including a writeup on Wired’s website, with some quotes by yours truly. The piece was fun to do, continuing in my current decorative flourish theme, and done almost 100% in ink wash. The only acrylic added for this piece was white in the highlights and the glow around the gun. The rest, all ink. I’m really enjoying finding comfort in this newish medium for me, which has become an extension of my old methods of using ink in pen form only. Expect much more in this vein very soon. Enjoy!

Number 48.

A new entry into the 100 Drawings catalog for your viewing pleasure.

This one was started with regular pen and ink, and made much more fun with the addition of brush ink with ink wash. It’s rapidly becoming my new favorite way to work. More to come in this vein very soon. Enjoy!

Number 33, One Third of the Way Done!

by ncwinters on July 25, 2011

Number 33 is here, only 67 drawings left to make before 100 Drawings comes to a close.

I’m pretty sure  nobody’s holding their breath.

This was a slightly older one lying around that I kept meaning to finish up, but never finding the energy to decide where it should go. Then it finally struck me: it’s already finished. Sure, I could find places to forcibly paint, but I realized I like it as it is, and therefore felt blocked to add any more to it. Hope you feel the same. Enjoy “The Giving Tree”, ink and watercolor on paper:
