A New Mario Print, Soon…

by ncwinters on March 4, 2012

Since this is currently making the rounds on the webs, I guess I can let this cat out of the bag.

A print will be made of my new painting “Plumber On the Go” for my upcoming show, this Saturday March 10: Abandoned Menagerie at Gallery1988. There will be a total of 3 new prints available, in addition to a return of an old favorite (I’m not telling!).

The print release will be EXTREMELY limited, so be sure to snap it up quick. As always, subscribe to the newsletter (in the sidebar) for the most info, and go check out G1988‘s website for ordering info. Sorry, not available until the day before the show! And in case you STILL aren’t aware of my Tumblr site, go check it out. It’s where I post works in progress, secret stuff and nonstop art. Go there now!

I’m very excited by the show, and can’t wait to see everyone, and to wrap up this year plus worth of work, my best to date. More soon, stay tuned!

Abandoned Menagerie- Coming Very Soon!

by ncwinters on February 7, 2012

So, I’ve been a bit of a ghost lately.

I haven’t been slacking, I haven’t been avoiding drawing, much as the 100 Drawings seems to have been abandoned. On the contrary, I’ve been grinding and grinding, and grinding away some more on an upcoming solo show at Gallery 1988 in Venice, California.

The show is called Abandoned Menagerie, and the collection is an all-new body of paintings and drawings focused around my influences in popular culture, with special emphasis on my childhood influential imagery. I’ll have more info soon, but all the pertinent data for the show is on the postcard below. I’ve already released a few teaser images on my Tumblr page, but here’s a couple more.

I hope to see you there!

New Painting for Music Video Inspired Show!

by ncwinters on October 6, 2011

The show is entitled “I Want my Music Video Art Show”, the theme being pretty self-evident right there in the title. This awesome show, curated by the fantastic Chris Marrs Piliero and David McDowell, will feature several amazing artists, each picking one of their favorite music videos to pay tribute in his or her respective art style.

I chose “Land of Confusion” by Genesis, mostly because it scared the hell out of my as a child. I’d seen the video countless times and the Spitting Image puppets had an amazingly disturbing quality of grotesqueness that was (and is) beautiful in its own unique way. Plus, a little bit of political satire for a video that’s still pretty relevant even today.

The show is at Gallery Meltdown, in Hollywood. They show opens this Friday, October 7th, and runs until October 20th. Many of the artists (including myself) will be in attendance, and it promises to be a fantastic show. Here’s a little bit of early press so far. For full details, click here. Hope to see you there!
