Tonight!

Sorry about the late notice, buuuuut if you’re in the Austin, Texas area tonight, make sure to check out this amazing new group show I’m in at Mondo Gallery. “When Dinosaurs Ruled the Earth” is a group show to celebrate the pop culture phenomenon that is all things Jurassic Park. Yes, totally designed to coincide with the new movie opening: “Jurassic World,” the show features the art of some amazing artists each creating his or her take on the Jurassic Park/World franchise. I am super honored to be a part of this amazing lineup, and the show has already received some amazing press from Time, FirstShowing.net, Flavorwire, Slashfilm, BusinessInsider, and NewsCinema.net.

The doors open at 7PM, and I’m guessing there’s already a line wrapped around the block. I wish I could attend, but you know, time and distance. My piece: “Life Finds a Way” was based on the amazing velociraptor, though it sounds like the T-rex got much appreciation from the artists. I also had a ton of fun making a hand sculpted frame in the vein of an archeology dig.

The exhibit runs June 12 – June 27, 2015. Gallery hours: Tuesday through Saturday 12pm – 6pm. Enjoy the show!

Going, and going and going, and going…

Here’s another recent piece, finished up and available in the shop. Kind of a weird one (aren’t they all?) but super fun in it’s completely experimental tone. Been wanting to play more with super vibrant rich color lately, as I feel like I’ve fallen into a constant muted, sepia mode as of late. Look for more in a super poppy vein in the future. The pink is a super fluorescent magenta which simply cannot be captured correctly digitally. One of those “has to be seen in person” to get the full effects sort of things. Oh, and the gold is done with a mixture of gold and copper colored paints with some micaceous iron oxide thrown in the mix for an actual iron texture. It gives the final a very interesting look, almost as if the stars were actual metal. Neat.

Enjoy: “Came Out On Top in the End.”
