I wanted to be more timely with my updates for the new year, but it looks like 2010 won’t be bringing that resolution to pass.
The show is Night of the Nick Nacks, tomorrow night at Gallery Meltdown in Los Angeles. Artists were asked to create works inspired by the movie Return to Oz and the books of L. Frank Baum. While I hadn’t seen the movie in ages, without a doubt I had to go with Tik Tok. This is another painting on paper, mounted to wood, and I really think I’ve found my groove in this medium.
Opening Reception: February 27, 2010, 6-10pm. Exhibition runs through March 23, 2010. Hope to see you at the show!

…unless you’re not a fan of He-Man.
Here’s my latest painting, in full hard-to-photograph resined glory. The painting will be part of “Masters of the Universe”- a group show at Gallery 1988:LA opening January 8th, 7PM–10PM. Some amazing pieces are in the show, as usual. Jensen curates quite the pool of talent at these shows, and I’m honored to show with everyone. I most likely won’t be able to be at the show, but enjoy the art and the gallery. Apparently they’ve been totally overhauling the gallery to do it up real Eternia-proper. Sounds pretty epic. Enjoy the painting, acrylic on paper again, mounted to wood and then resined. I’m getting ever more comfortable with this combination of media and am really enjoying working this way. Plus, the paintings get done in way less time and (in my opinion) have been turning out pretty well. Enjoy!

Also, I was recently interviewed on Battlemouth.com. A fun little interview where I ramble candidly about art, content and what’s been going on recently. Check out the whole deal here.
More coming very soon, as I am trying to wrap up another exciting new painting for a show in January. December promises to be hectic, but there’s some fun stuff in the works for 2010. Stay tuned.
