Number Sixteen and Other Store Additions.

by ncwinters on February 25, 2011

Number 16 of 100 Drawings is up, the first of the series to be resined and framed!

This was a little 4″ x 6″ painting that was just aching to be resined and framed, so that’s what happened. I think the marriage of the two works very well, and the resin coating makes the framing look like it’s under glass, which I love. But this way I don’t have to worry about fingerprints or hairs under the glass. Note that the resin is a  nightmare to photograph without getting hella glare. The actual finished painting does not look as washed out as the second photo, it’s just the reflection of the gorgeous San Diego sky.

In addition, I’ve updated the store with some more paintings now available from the Damages show. I also gave a slight discount as an incentive to buy. All are acrylic on paper, resined, and mounted to wood panel. Enjoy!

Down the Rabbit Hole we go…

by ncwinters on February 25, 2011

…yes, it’s a new Alice in Wonderland-themed painting.

Just finished up a new painting for an upcoming Alice in Wonderland themed show at The Hive Gallery in Los Angeles. The show, entitled “Alice in Wonderland 2″ opens March 5, 2011, 8PM-12:30AM. $8 at door/ $5 for those dressed in Alice in Wonderland costume. The show runs March 5th-26th. If you’ve never made it out to a show at The Hive, I strongly encourage you to go, they’ve always been quite the event in the past! I unfortunately won’t be able to make it, but will be there in spirit, whatever that means! The painting was done on the usual medium: acrylic on paper mounted to wood, with some shiny resin thrown on top. Enjoy!

Number Fifteen and Some Press!

by ncwinters on February 18, 2011

A new drawing and a great writeup from an awesome magazine.

Number Fifteen of 100 Drawings is done. Feel like I may be getting into a groove with these finally, as I can’t seem to get them done fast enough! Thanks to everyone who has purchased a drawing, especially to those who have purchased many! In addition to this week’s drawing, I got a great writeup from Ken Harman of Hi-Fructose magazine. The full article can be found here.

Hope to have the next drawings up very soon, in addition to the first drawing in the series that may be available both resined and framed. It’s a small 4″ x 6″, but it would look excellent resined and even better in this very ornate frame I’ve acquired. I’ll post options when it goes up. The only drawback is that it will up the price. We’ll see. Still undecided on what I’ll do. Enjoy Number 15: Memento Mori, a little one, acrylic over ink drawing on bristol.
