How’s everyone holding up?
I’ve been away for awhile, and sort of…caught up in the recent political firestorm that now shapes our country. It would take a whole other blog post to get into all the ins and outs of my thoughts on the situation, and I may very well do that, but I’ll keep it short for now: I’m…upset. I’ve got a print release coming soon that will encapsulate my viewpoint about the state of things, and that is to say: a focus on compassion to our fellow humans. It’s the best way I can express who I am and be involved as a force for positive change, as I’ll be donating a portion of my upcoming compassion-themed print to the ACLU. It’s the absolute very least I can do to be an ally in this heavy time of xenophobia and fear.
On that…note? The first new completed work available for purchase this year is “A Slave to Your Devices.” The work is based around a broad theme that encompasses several various elements of existence, including smartphone addiction and the reliance on a closed-loop bubble sort of mindset that helped define this most recent election. Suffice to say, it was still a fun piece to make and it was nice to get back into drawing in painting, after what feels like months of working digitally. Digital works, partially for the upcoming aforementioned compassion-themed print, partially on so many other wonderful projects that I’m super excited for but can’t quite mention just yet. Suffice to say, big things are in the work for 2017, along with a strong emphasis on screenprinted work.
For now, enjoy“A Slave to Your Devices” and with your help, I hope to be able to contribute to positive change in 2017 and beyond. I’m ever grateful for your continuous support as it truly allows me to do what I do for a living, and I love each and every one of you.
Be good to each other.
