New PRIMUS Gig Poster- May 16 Atlanta.

New gig poster!

First off, I have to say how much I’ve enjoyed doing gig posters for the band Primus. I get full creative freedom to make what I want (so far!) and the response to the posters by the fans has been amazing. Extra special thanks as always to the enigmatic Zoltron for bringing me on board for the Primus posters. His generosity is matched only by his mysterious nature. Also have to give huge props to Lady Lazarus, the printer from Houston. They absolutely nailed the printing on this one, and on a short timeline to boot.

This was a fun chance to pull a recent moleskine drawing into gig poster form, and I’m very very pleased with the result. The hyper details in the original ink, horror vacui-style drawing were split out to several tonal levels to make the image a little less manic on the eyes. Plus, the horizontal aspect was a nice change of pace. Was also fun to do this with minimal colors- just four for each colorway (sepias and teals), and then a hybrid of both on the third. In addition to the three different color versions, there are three corresponding rainbow foil versions, in minimal amounts for those who are fans of the shiny. All prints will go up for sale this coming Monday at a random time in the online store. New Gig Poster: 311!

Another new gig poster! I’ve been a busy boy!

A little late on this release, as there was a snag with shipping from the printer. But, following my recent Foo Fighters gig is another gig poster, this time for the band 311. And yes, it’s already been an insanely busy year, and still even busier to come. The poster for 311’s gig a few weeks ago definitely has a more vintage vibe. Continuing with the experiment to try different stock choices, this one features another Legion paper stock: stone, for the muted buff-colored background for the birdo. I tried staying away from using pure black for this one and really am pleased with the results. Pulling back on the full tonal range for a more subdued, sun drenched look really worked for the poster in my opinion. And, like the previous Foo Fighters poster, there are two shiny versions in addition to the main: rainbow foil and gold miri foil yet again. They turned out great, and the art really pops off the foils.
