SDCC 2018!

It’s back!

This is my fifth year in a row exhibiting at San Diego Comic Con. This year, I’m teaming up with “Ghoulish” Gary Pullin, a legend in the world of the art of horror. 

I’ll be in the SciFi/Fantasy Illustrators section again this year, in booth 4619. I have several exclusives available for the show, mostly in the hand embellished department, though I will be debuting a brand new print. I’ll also have some sold-out rarities and a couple other surprises each day. I will be doling everything out a little each day starting on preview night (Wednesday), so if you miss out on one day be sure to check back another. For those buying for someone else (being good Poster Buddies), unfortunately you will only be allowed to purchase one of the super rare items. This will be strictly enforced and there will be no sales before the show. In the past, these items have gone extremely quickly, so you’ve been warned! I’ll be doing very limited convention sketches this year, so if you’re interested, get to me early and hopefully I won’t get too backed up.

I’m very excited for this year’s Comic Con. I’m looking forward to showing what I’ve been working on, as well as seeing friends and new faces alike. It’s always wonderful to meet face to face with those of you who support my art, plus it’s great to be able to see friends I only see during the Con. It’ll be a real joy to show with Gary Pullin as well, as he’s just an all-around great guy.

New PRIMUS Gig Poster: July 5, Los Angeles!

Brand new madness.

I’m back, and hitting the ground running after taking off for a last minute holiday jaunt to Hawaii. The next day back means it’s right back to work! No complaints, I absolutely love my job. I am beyond excited to finally be able to reveal this poster. Fresh off the success of the juggernaut of my recent Grateful Dead poster (thank you all!), this PRIMUS gig poster has gone through quite the gauntlet of work, and is part of why I may have shaved a year or so off my life from the end of 2017 into the early part of 2018.

Using every gig poster to constantly try and push my skills, experiment and see how much I can completely break the screenprinting process in the efforts to create something new, I’m pleased to present this bucket of madness, the poster for the Primus gig last Thursday, July 5 in LA. I worked super dense and went for a rich range of shading on this one, and indeed utilized a total of 4 black inks to round out the gamut. One solid black, and three separate transparent blacks were all painstakingly split out to go over three different rich colors. Ultimately the print is four colors, with seven screens used. Special shout out to Jon Smith for his help on some of the finer tweaks for the blacks. DL Screenprinting handled the final printing, and absolutely knocked it out of the park. Special thanks to them.

In addition to the main show edition, I’ll have a couple color variants along with two foil versions available from my online shop, dropping this Monday, July 9th at a random time.
