“Fragile:” New Gig Poster for Nine Inch Nails.

This one is massive.

This gig poster is for the band I’ve been waiting for, and it sort of dropped in my lap at last second. I’ve been a huge Nine Inch Nails fan since I was a teenager. NIN has definitely been on the short list of bands I’ve been wanting to design a gig poster for, and I’m thrilled with the opportunity. As I mentioned, it sort of dropped in my lap last minute with a short timeline, and luckily I had imagery brewing already in the pipeline, ready for just such a poster. Constraint is always an interesting factor on these sorts of projects, as it forces me to both work at a feverish pace, but also concisely. It forces me to not get too distracted and in the weeds overworking parts of the poster with the short timeline.

The main show copies seemed to have great response, more positive than any poster I’ve done to date, and I’m quite proud it all turned out. Super special shout out to VGKids for handling such a technically elaborate poster with super tight registration and excellent color accuracy. They are a new printer for my workflow, but I’ll definitely be using their services again in the near future. They made my holy grail gig an absolute success. Thanks to everyone at VGKids.

I’ll have a couple different artist colorways available for sale on Friday. I couldn’t ever decide on exactly how I wanted the colors to go, so I made them all, including a very special inverted version on black, that I’ve entitled “Void.” Also, there’s a small handful of pure black and grey posters in the mix that I think turned out super well.

The posters will go up for purchase in the online shop this coming Friday, September 28 at a random time. As always, the exact drop time will be given out to those subscribed to my online newsletter. Drops have been selling out pretty feverishly lately, so be sure you’re signed up to get the exact time. Please note that once again, **there will be a STRICT limit of only one poster per order/household. Orders of multiple prints will be cancelled. This is to try and combat some of the aftermarket aggressive purchases/resales that have been going on. I appreciate the understanding. You can order more than one colorway, variants, but only one of each variant. ie: one lavender, one indigo, but not two lavenders, etc.**

Grateful Dead Artist Variants: Wave Three, and Some Heavy News.

Final Wave of my Grateful Dead artist copies sale, and some heavy news.

It’s been a rough week, with the recent passing of our cat Bailey. Even though he was an indoor cat, he can’t couldn’t help but keep getting outside. This time he almost fought off an attack from a coyote, and while my wife managed to hear the scuffle and valiantly bolted after them, scaring the coyote enough to drop the cat, it was too late, and we had to euthanize. He was a solid member of the family and at 17 years old, with us from the beginning. It’s going to take some time for the hole in our hearts to heal. We’ll miss you terribly, Bay.

In lighter news, Wave Three of the Grateful Dead posters features one single variant: Blue Mirri foil. Yes, there was speculation that a blue foil was coming, and the rumors were true. A straightforward release: when I was designing the posters I knew I was going to feature a red and blue foil to completely round out the red/blue color scheme of the print. Like everything else in the entire run, I am blown away by the quality, color, and registration skill utilized by Ben and the rest of the crew at Burlesque. This print wouldn’t be what it is without their hard work and artistic dedication and integrity.

Wave Three’s blue mirri foil drop will be at 9AM PDT sharp this coming Wednesday, September 19. Here’s a handy link about exact time/time zones. Bypassing the newsletter exclusivity this month for personal emotional ease. Please note that again, there will be a STRICT limit of only one poster per order/household. Wave Two of my Grateful Dead artist copies sale!

Wave Two features two variants: Black Licorice stock and Red Mirri foil. Both have very different looks, but I think the black licorice may actually be my favorite. It’s such a tough call though, all the experimental stocks for the variants all turned out so well in such different ways.
