New “gig” poster!
You’ll notice “gig” is in quotation marks, as this was a virtual concert, so no actual live event this year. I was asked by the band to create a new poster for their “Drive-In” series, and was happy to oblige. These online-only events are re-broadcasts of previous shows, thus the date on the print from August of 2019.

Sold out show edition- was only available online through DMB site.
One of the goals for this print was to emulate something I’ve been into recently: paper marbling. Through a series of methods, paper is lowered onto swirled inks and the image is “applied” to the paper. I wanted to figure out a way to digitally incorporate the wild swirls and randomness created by the water and transfer that effect into a screenprinting medium. I’m extremely happy with how this print turned out, with extra special gratitude to the team at Lady Lazarus for the absolutely stellar printing job, in terms of color, trapping and all around quality. Thanks also to Matt of Red Star Merchandise for having me back and the amazing amount of creative control. Makes these kind of projects that much more amazing.
The screenprinted posters come in two colorways at six colors each on cougar 100# natural paper stock. There are also a more limited amount available on rainbow foil, and and an even more limited amount (only 5 each!) on paper which are personally hand embellished. For those not aware, the hand-embellished option features the print with various hand-applied details in inks and acrylic paints. It give the print an extra touch, for those who want something a little extra special.
The “Midnight” colorway features my new favorite go-to of a purple colorway, while “Morning” is a variant in more muted greens and yellows. Extremely happy with how both turned out. I often spend a ton of time tweaking final colors before press to make the variations in color both unique to each colorway and also work cohesively within the palette of the color plates both prints share. This, in my opinion, is one of my most successful executions of this to date, made largely possible by the care of the crew at Lady Lazarus. Isaac, Aleisha and the rest of their team really know their stuff!
Prints will go up for sale this coming Saturday, October 31 (Halloween!) at a random time. As usual, be sure you’re subscribed to the newsletter for the exact drop time. Please note as always that there are simply far too few posters for all the interested buyers, and that not everyone who wants one will be able to get a print. It’s a limitation of working with the numbers for the band, and simply is what it is. Note also that there are specific limitations on this drop of no more than one hand embellished print per order, as well as no more than one of each kind of variant per order. So you can order one of everything, but not more than one of any single print.
Thanks as always for the incredible support, and on to the posters!
