These were hard ones to track down.
I hunted for weeks, carefully stalking them. After countless days, I finally managed to acquire a specimen of both “Rose” and “Vega.” The tricky part was the handling- the wings of Rose are so fragile, and the skin of Vega is like that of a dolphin- smooth and slippery and evasive to the grasp. The big trick was to not hurt them during my process of carefully posing and photographing the insects before they flew off. But the deed is done, and they’re here, ready to add to your collection.
It’s been quite a few months on this side of the screen. In addition to the new normal of pandemic life, the Winters household faced some upheaval as we were suddenly forced to find a new place to live, and with 60 days to do it. After several incredibly stressful weeks, we were able to find a new place, and I’m happy to announce our new status: official first time homeowners. In the middle of a pandemic, and during a brutal seller’s market in a massive housing shortage, but we still count ourselves incredibly fortunate and privileged to be in this position.
Thank you to everyone who participated in my recent PURGE sale. You helped make it my biggest sale ever, and the funds raised were directly responsible to help my family and me get into a new house in a short time. I cannot thank you enough for the support.
How’s everyone else doing? The call of summer beckons, and with vaccinations steadily rolling along, the promise of a return to some kind of new normal looms. I do hope everyone is thriving as best they can in this very surreal year and half we’ve been in.
How about some bugs to help ease the stress?
The double release worked so well last round, and time is in shorter supply than ever, so I’m continuing with this method- selling both prints in one sale. I’ve upped quantities this time, to try and give everyone the best shot of adding to their collection. Once again, there will be a strict limit of one set per buyer/household/spouse/roommate. There will be 15 hand embellished prints of each variant, but again with a strict limit of one per buyer. So you can buy a set and one hand embellished if you want (and are fast enough) but you’ll have to choose your favorite: no more than one hand embellished per buyer/household on this drop. Once again, I will not be hand embellishing any more after this set of fifteen, though I appreciate the offers. Each of the hand embellished prints are numbered out of 15.
Once again and as always, these were meticulously printed by Dave Correia, who has printed all of my Lepidoptera documentation to date, and I couldn’t be happier. Archival inks on cold press natural cotton rag for a clean, archival addition to your collection.
