New group show from the Prisma Collective.

Entitled “Heavy Metal Lover,” this group show features works that incorporate a metallic element in some fashion. Metal leaf, metallic paint, or some other such metal medium has been incorporated into each of the artist’s works for an added dimension of color and texture. I’m honored to have scored the flyer, and just went all out on this one. Was a fun piece to do, and I enjoyed incorporating a blend of bronze, copper and gold metallic paints into a custom über metal element on certain areas. The show opens Saturday, April 1 at Modern Eden Gallery in San Francisco. I will be at Wondercon in Los Angeles (look for the next post right after this one) so won’t be in attendence, but if you’re in the SF area, check out the show. The works I’ve seen are all stellar, which is par for the course for Prisma, but in this case, everyone pulled out all the stops. Enjoy my contribution to the show: “Paragon.”

Opening tonight!

Honored to be showing with my fellow PRISMA Collective members at Arch Enemy Arts Gallery in Philadelphia for our collective “Amethyst” themed group show. The group was presented with color options to vote on as a unifying theme for the show, and we selected amethyst and each created works with “amethyst” as a springboard to jump off from. As usual, the group pulled out all the stops and the collection looks fantastic. If you’re in the Philadelphia area, the opening reception is tonight, see the show page for full details. Thanks!

Friends,
The time has come for the third annual PRISMA Artist Collective group show this Saturday at Spoke Art Gallery in San Francisco. I’ve had the pleasure to be a member of the collective for a couple years and am honored to show beside them again for this year’s annual show. Each member of the group is asked to do a work of their own choosing, no theme, just something that strongly represents their personal work, and the works I’ve seen all look stunning. I wish I could make it to the show, but I understand several members will be in attendance to answer questions, sign books and be their general cheery PRISMA selves. As a special bonus, the first 75 people in the door get a free 8″x10″ print from one of three PRISMA artists in the collective: Kelly McKernan, Caitlin Hackett or Redd Walitzki.
Get there early for your best chance at getting a free print, as lines have been known to wrap around the block at Spoke Gallery.

In conjunction with the gallery show, we’ll be releasing our first book, featuring every member of the collective and some insight into our process for creating art. The book looks gorgeous and has been designed beautifully by PRISMA member Tom Bagshaw. From Spoke:
The individual working processes of PRISMA’s traditional and digital painters, collage artists, and sculptors have been documented step by step, from start to finish for this book, and the group also give in-depth answers to their most frequently asked questions from fans and followers. Many of the work in progress pieces documented for the book will be shown at the gallery as part of the 3rd Annual Group Show, giving the spectator the intimate experience of following the initial sketch to the final artwork on the wall.
Some specifics about the book from PRISMA Collective founder Kaspian Shore:
“The PRISMA Book is a 260 pages strong collection of artwork from 28 international creatives, step by step photo documentations of each artist’s working process, as well as in depth answers to frequently asked questions from fans and followers. The deluxe softcover book measures 8.5” x 11” and comes with a silver foil blocking on cover and spine. A very limited edition of 50 copies will be sold through Spoke Art on February 7th at the opening night of The PRISMA Collective 3rd Annual Group Show, and made available to customers outside San Francisco on February 9th via Spoke Art’s online store.”
Enjoy the show and book, and best to you all for 2015.
