gig poster

Dave Matthews Band Gorge Drive-In Concert Poster.

by ncwinters on October 29, 2020

New “gig” poster!

You’ll notice “gig” is in quotation marks, as this was a virtual concert, so no actual live event this year. I was asked by the band to create a new poster for their “Drive-In” series, and was happy to oblige. These online-only events are re-broadcasts of previous shows, thus the date on the print from August of 2019.

Sold out show edition- was only available online through DMB site.

One of the goals for this print was to emulate something I’ve been into recently: paper marbling. Through a series of methods, paper is lowered onto swirled inks and the image is “applied” to the paper. I wanted to figure out a way to digitally incorporate the wild swirls and randomness created by the water and transfer that effect into a screenprinting medium. I’m extremely happy with how this print turned out, with extra special gratitude to the team at Lady Lazarus for the absolutely stellar printing job, in terms of color, trapping and all around quality. Thanks also to Matt of Red Star Merchandise for having me back and the amazing amount of creative control. Makes these kind of projects that much more amazing.

The screenprinted posters come in two colorways at six colors each on cougar 100# natural paper stock. There are also a more limited amount available on rainbow foil, and and an even more limited amount (only 5 each!) on paper which are personally hand embellished. For those not aware, the hand-embellished option features the print with various hand-applied details in inks and acrylic paints. It give the print an extra touch, for those who want something a little extra special.

The “Midnight” colorway features my new favorite go-to of a purple colorway, while “Morning” is a variant in more muted greens and yellows. Extremely happy with how both turned out. I often spend a ton of time tweaking final colors before press to make the variations in color both unique to each colorway and also work cohesively within the palette of the color plates both prints share. This, in my opinion, is one of my most successful executions of this to date, made largely possible by the care of the crew at Lady Lazarus. Isaac, Aleisha and the rest of their team really know their stuff!

Prints will go up for sale this coming Saturday, October 31 (Halloween!) at a random time. As usual, be sure you’re subscribed to the newsletter for the exact drop time. Please note as always that there are simply far too few posters for all the interested buyers, and that not everyone who wants one will be able to get a print. It’s a limitation of working with the numbers for the band, and simply is what it is. Note also that there are specific limitations on this drop of no more than one hand embellished print per order, as well as no more than one of each kind of variant per order. So you can order one of everything, but not more than one of any single print.

Thanks as always for the incredible support, and on to the posters!

Seems like ages since my last post. How’s everyone holding up?

Happy to finally be able to announce my artist copies from my 311 gig poster for their last gig before the world changed. Posters are from their 3 night stint in Las Vegas, celebrating “311 Day” (held over March 11, 12 and 13). My poster design was available alongside those of Miles Tsang and Nathaniel Deas, who also made bangers for the event.

The printing was executed fantastically by the ever diligent crew of Lady Lazarus out of Houston. They like most of us, were hit with a shelter in place order; thus the delay in availability. Prints are seven colors on both off white natural paper as well as a selection available on foils. Went with silver and gold foil this time, really happy with how they look in person. In addition to the prints on paper and foil, I’ll have a very small selection (5 each) of the paper prints available as hand embellished versions. These will each be uniquely hand embellished with acrylic paint to give them a truly custom feel for those wanting something extra special. Strict limit of one of each of these. My artist copies will be available this coming Monday, May 25, at a random time. As always, be sure you’re signed up to my newsletter to get the exact drop time.

I hope everyone is staying as safe and as sane as possible during this surreal time. I know many are faced with unemployment, health concerns, a new level of parenting/teaching from home or at the very minimum, extreme uncertainty. I wish everyone the best with their current situation, and am aware that selling art, while always a strange profession at the best of times, seems extra bizarre right now. But it is what I do, and the only thing I can continue to do, both to keep my head on straight and support my family. I know supporting your family comes first, and appreciate that. Take care of yourselves over buying posters, of course!

Full details on the posters below, and please know that I value every single one of you, and wish you the best. Be well.

Content Marketing Gig

by ncwinters on March 27, 2020

There is no disputing the popularity of content marketing among B2C and B2B marketers alike.

Every day, consumers are inundated with text, image, audio, and video content via email, social and text from nearly every organization we engage with online or off.

Content is everywhere!

However, you may still be questioning whether or not content marketing is an appropriate strategy for your own business.

When done properly, content marketing does require a significant initial expenditure of time and resources from strategy and ideation through to drafting, publishing, distribution, and measurement. This is the most accurate definition of affiliate marketing.

Identifying your audience and giving them the content they want takes time. Some marketers still question the ability of content to deliver a return on investment or don’t understand how its value can be measured.

Here, you’ll find 10 serious benefits organizations like yours can realize from developing and implementing a comprehensive content marketing strategy.

1. Organic Search Authority And Visibility

One of the primary reasons for adopting a content marketing strategy and producing content your consumers want to read, like, and share is to develop domain authority on the keywords and phrases your organization wants to be found for in search engines like Google.

Maintaining authoritative content is a core principle behind how Google determines search engine rank.

In some categories, content must exhibit Expertise, Authoritativeness, and Trustworthiness or E-A-T in order to even be considered for top search engine positions.

Consistent, high-quality, relevant content can both establish your visibility in organic search results, which in turn builds brand awareness (among other beneficial marketing byproducts detailed below).

Of course, establishing yourself as an authority on any topic is not a simple or quick task. It’s worth getting right, though, as the long-term benefits can be enormous.

2. Increased Organic Traffic

Simply put, content that ranks higher in the search engines attracts more clicks from those looking for the top-ranked answers to their queries.

Further, since this traffic is based on consumers searching for specific answers it is highly targeted and properly tailored content with strong calls to action can lead to prospects quickly becoming customers

3. Increased Referral Traffic

Relevant, high-quality, and high-ranking content is also more likely to gain the attention of other website owners looking to better inform their audience or build their own authority through association.

As such, quality content will attract valuable inbound links from relevant third-party websites, which will in turn further add to your growing authority.

These links from relevant sources have the dual effect of driving both traffic and authority for your business, which in turn can have a positive effect on your rank.

All of these components, beginning with the content you create, are effectively intertwined.

4. More Social Engagement

As stated, all content should be created with the goal of having it read, liked, and shared.

The latter are both signals of social and organic authority or social proof. To this end, content creators should be diligent in including calls to action within their content and providing easy ways for readers to share content either via social media or otherwise.

Additionally, the creation and distribution of high-quality branded content open up two other increasingly important channels – user-generated content and influencer marketing.

Today’s consumers, and particularly those who are in a younger demographic, will quite often take to social media (particularly Instragam and now TikTok) to back the brands, products, and services they like and trust. Their followers, by extension, are likewise more likely to trust and purchase from brands validated by their peers.
