gig poster

Seems like ages since my last post. How’s everyone holding up?

Happy to finally be able to announce my artist copies from my 311 gig poster for their last gig before the world changed. Posters are from their 3 night stint in Las Vegas, celebrating “311 Day” (held over March 11, 12 and 13). My poster design was available alongside those of Miles Tsang and Nathaniel Deas, who also made bangers for the event.

The printing was executed fantastically by the ever diligent crew of Lady Lazarus out of Houston. They like most of us, were hit with a shelter in place order; thus the delay in availability. Prints are seven colors on both off white natural paper as well as a selection available on foils. Went with silver and gold foil this time, really happy with how they look in person. In addition to the prints on paper and foil, I’ll have a very small selection (5 each) of the paper prints available as hand embellished versions. These will each be uniquely hand embellished with acrylic paint to give them a truly custom feel for those wanting something extra special. Strict limit of one of each of these. My artist copies will be available this coming Monday, May 25, at a random time. As always, be sure you’re signed up to my newsletter to get the exact drop time.

I hope everyone is staying as safe and as sane as possible during this surreal time. I know many are faced with unemployment, health concerns, a new level of parenting/teaching from home or at the very minimum, extreme uncertainty. I wish everyone the best with their current situation, and am aware that selling art, while always a strange profession at the best of times, seems extra bizarre right now. But it is what I do, and the only thing I can continue to do, both to keep my head on straight and support my family. I know supporting your family comes first, and appreciate that. Take care of yourselves over buying posters, of course!

Full details on the posters below, and please know that I value every single one of you, and wish you the best. Be well.

New Gig Poster, For a Postponed Gig.

by ncwinters on March 27, 2020

Strange times indeed.

Have been trying to figure out how to formulate a response to the current pandemic situation, and keep coming up short. Seems strange to be mentioning a gig poster I made- a piece of art for a postponed gig that was to be a celebration of the 80th birthday of a legendary musician, while we’re all under the umbrella of a world being ravaged by a deadly disease. But that’s where we are right now.

I know as someone who makes art from home for a living, I exist in a slightly different situation than the rest of the world filled with people with real jobs. People whose livelihood is in dire conditions, where if they’re not at work, they’re not earning, and their savings start to run out, and things are scary.

And I’m here trying to promote art.

It’s a bizarre situation to be sure, but I just don’t know what else to do. I also have a family to support, a family who is dependent on my income, on my sales, on my livelihood. My livelihood where I make art for a living. A livelihood that doesn’t seem too relevant with so much chaos going on.

But then, I hear from people. I hear from people who have been going out of their way to express support for me and my livelihood. Who want to continue to buy art, to support what I do, to maybe find some normalcy, some beauty in all this chaos? I don’t fully know the reasons. But I do appreciate it, and it fills me with hope.

I know we’ll pull together through this difficult situation. That we’ll do our best to be safe, to be healthy, to take care of ourselves and our families, and each other. I want everyone to exist in their happiest self, and if that means saving their hard earned money to take care of what matters most, then I absolutely want them to do that. And I want you to do that. Please don’t buy a poster if it’s going to jeopardize the well being of your family. Take care of yourselves.

If you do happen to find yourself in an okay position and wish to continue to add to your art collection, to add a piece of art, add some color in this dark world we find ourselves in, or maybe you’re just rounding out the collection, I’m here. I’m here with posters, with art, and with a new gig poster, for a gig that never was. I’ll try to keep the normalcy going as best as I can.

Phil Lesh and Friends, 80th Birthday Celebration run at the Capitol Theatre (postponed until a later date) posters are five color screenprints. There is a foil variant for the show colorway which apparently has already sold out, but I understand at the time of this writing, show copies are still available. My artist variant colorways include a green and purple scheme. Both are available on paper and a metallic foil. The green comes in a brushed gold, the purple on a rainbow foil. See below for full details. I’ll also have a small number of hand embellished prints for those wanting something extra. See the storefront for details.

As always, I’ll publish the exact drop time for this coming Monday, March 30 to those subscribed to my newsletter. You can sign up in the sidebar.

Take care of yourselves. Be safe. Stay healthy. There’s always more art, but look after each other right now. I love you all.

A new one for 311!

Show edition- only available at show.

Excited to announce my most recent gig poster for 311’s gig a few weeks ago in Dallas. Had a lot of fun with this one, wanted to push what I could do in a mandala theme, and just try and pack as much detail as possible. The prints are six color screenprints, and I’m extremely happy with how the colors came together. Between the color accuracy and tight registration, the posters turned out fantastic, thanks once again to the excellent printing team at Lady Lazarus. Their hard work and attention to detail are what really make my posters come to life, and I’m very grateful for their amazing work!

There will be two different colorways available, in both 100# off white cover stock and holographic rainbow foil. As always, there’s a limit of one of each kind of poster per person. Feel free to get the whole set if you like, but no more than one of each individual kind per person/household/purchase. The exact drop time goes out in the newsletter, be sure you’re signed up! (It’s in the sidebar of the site)
